Amazon in meltdown?
Well, not quite. But this is not something I felt I would ever see!
So a few of you know I write the affiliate reviews for TheDrive / CarBibles. And they are one of Amazon's biggest affiliate partner sites.
Anyway, I got an email from my editor yesterday saying that Amazon had reached out and asked them to STOP sending traffic their way for a while because they are unable to keep up with demand.
Amazon.com! Shaking under the weight of so much traffic!
So we are actively diverting traffic away from Amazon towards Walmart, for the foreseeable, at Amazon's request.
Absolutely crazy.
What does this mean for affiliates?Well, I'm not entirely sure.
For one, it's encouraging. I mean, we all assumed that capitalism didn't sleep. But I thought maybe it would slow down a little.
But also, I'm not sure how it will affect the individuals you send to Amazon in terms of available stock and/or shipping.
I know that Amazon are taking on something crazy like 100,000 employees in the US. So that will certainly help with demand.
I also know that a lot of big hitters in the dropshipping scene have seen numbers fall off because of the (true or not) assumption that products are coming from China.
I guess the best thing to do is to keep doing what you've always done.
Write good content, build you brand and maybe we'll see some good come out of this whole fiasco in the long run.
There are definitely worse times to be dabbling with a side hustle!

Thank you for sharing the insight. We will get through this we have to continue doing what we have been doing.
I see it as a good thing, as it shows there's no slowing down of online sales!! The economy will pick up again once this crisis is over.
Of course. If this is anything to go by, it doesn't look like it even missed a beat!
I know in the UK that people have taken the prospect of the pubs closing as an opportunity to go out and get smashed.
Hopefully higher than expected March takings will see a few through until the summer when things calm down?
Thank you for your blog, very interesting insights as to what is happeing. Let's watch this space closely to see how it pans out.
I don't know if i'm more surprised that Amazon actually hit capacity, that they didn't see it coming, or that they are (almost) turning customers away!
Interesting times ahead, I imagine...
Thanks for the follow :)

Crazy that Amazon of all companies can't keep up! I know there's a banner on the Amazon sites that say to expect delays for delivery of packages right now, too. I think it's because they're trying to ship out all the important supplies first which is in very high demand. Masks, gloves, cleaners, etc.
Hopefully it gets better once they've hired the 100,000 people.
All the best
