Anyone know about tracking links?

My question is - how can we create some sort of tracking system so that he will know if they bought from his online store through my link from the blog?
I hope I was clear and that someone can provide some advice and clarity in this area...

Can You create a landing page on his site. Then use Google Analytics to Check traffic to that Landing Page on his site.
Short of that, I have seen code for Google Analytics, used to track traffic from a website to a 3rd party shopping cart, I think it has to be laid in on both your page and his site, That's the little I know, probably others know more.

I use adtrackz gold. You have to purchase it and install it on your server but its a one time purchase. There are several other services that charge a monthly fee like adwatcher, adminder, etc.
