I’m convinced! How do I make the switch?
The hardest part is done. Coming to the realization that a change is needed is similar to what an alcoholic goes through before he or she can be successfully treated.
Now, do the following:
- Take full ownership responsibility for your own destiny and your WA business.
- Develop a vision and mission statement for your life and for your business.
- Avoid procrastination — take immediate action.
- Never fear making mistakes — learn from them.
- Conduct some self-study in the art of sales and business interaction — become a “solver”, not a seller.
- Never confine yourself to the “box” — don’t just think outside the box, step out of it every once in a while.
- See every problem as a challenge — become solution oriented.
- Seek help when needed — we all do from time to time.
- Don’t allow what you cannot change to paralyze you — focus on what you can do.
- Don’t stagnate — remember that “No matter how well it is currently being done, it can almost always be done better, faster, or more efficiently."

Years of workng for other people is bound to have a big impact on a persons brain. When you arrive, when you can leave, when you take holidays, when you have your tea break / lunch break, who you can speak to and how you address them are just some of the restrictions placed on employees. That is before you even consider appraisals, reviews, promotions, transfers, threat of redundancy etc. Is it any wonder that employees have a different mindset?

You are so right on. This is more critical than which path we take to get there. Mindset is what allows us to stay on the path.
