Wealthy Affiliate and other home based and online business ventures attract large numbers of men and women for a variety of reasons. For some, it is the dream of building their own business. For others, having lost a well-paying job is the lure. Still others are attracted out of sheer curiosity. What was your reason for joining? If you had it to do all over again, would you?

Unfortunately, some reading this today will no longer be with us a year from now. That is unfortunate because success is virtually assured for those who simply don’t quit. Will you be one of those who loses your dream, your zeal, and your passion?

Regardless of your reason for joining Wealthy Affiliate, there is one factor which can be a reliable indicator of your future success: Mindset!

Whether you realize it or not, you have developed a certain occupational mindset over your working years. You either think predominately as an employee or as a business owner/entrepreneur. Fortunately, most people who are drawn to an opportunity like WA have or have developed an entrepreneur mindset — but not all. Either way, I think it is important that we all know for certain where we stand.

Years of workng for other people is bound to have a big impact on a persons brain. When you arrive, when you can leave, when you take holidays, when you have your tea break / lunch break, who you can speak to and how you address them are just some of the restrictions placed on employees. That is before you even consider appraisals, reviews, promotions, transfers, threat of redundancy etc. Is it any wonder that employees have a different mindset?

Thank you acoolmil. You are exactly right, which makes it difficult for some to ever change. However, I firmly believe that EVERYONE can be motivated to change whenever they reach a point in life where it is more painful to remain where they are than it is to make necessary changes to improve their lot.

Thanks for the encouragement, Joshua and the reminders about why we are here and what we are going to achieve if we stick it out.

Thanks AnnieB. That is what is so great about this community. Although we are all striving to become our best and are working hard to attain some level of success, we don't do so at the expense of others. The level of commitment to share knowledge and to encourage one another within WA is unlike anything I have ever seen in 60 years of life. And, I mean that sincerely!

Hi Shields. Thanks. That is what we are all striving for (successful life). Unfortunately, it eludes so many because of what's been called, "Stinkin Thinkin."

You are so right on. This is more critical than which path we take to get there. Mindset is what allows us to stay on the path.

Thanks. Your point is well taken. We can always make a course correction if we are on the wrong path. However, maintaining the wrong mindset will cause us to make wrong choices when we encounter the inevitable forks in the road.
