The following are some GREAT tips that you can use to make your posts easier to scan by both your readers and Google.

  1. Use headings and subheadings. Here we are talking about WordPress heading tags (H1-H6). They give structure to your content and show how sections in your posts are connected.
  2. Formatting. Using capitals, bolds, italics, different font color etc in order to draw the reader's attention to important points.
  3. Use of unique images that are content related. If you are able to use images/photos that you have captured yourself, even better.Remember to use a keyword in your photo Alt description.
  4. Be precise. When writing out your content, don't write long stories that will confuse the reader or make the reader lose interest. In other words, get to the point and don't bury your ideas in your content.
  5. Be creative. You need to be unique in order to stand out from the rest. You can find creative ways of expressing yourself that are not only engaging but also communicate your main ideas effectively.
  6. Make your posts simple. Don't introduce too many ideas in one post. It is distracting.
  7. Use of numbers or bullet points to communicate your main ideas. It draws the reader's attention to these sections.
  8. Use keywords wisely. Don't misuse keywords in your posts. People tend to over-stuff their posts with keywords thinking that it will lead to faster and higher rankings. The opposite is actually true. Google will penalize you for this.
  9. Use of links in a logical way.Google loves links as long as they give additional and relevant info to the readers. You can either link to other pages/posts within your website or link out to other websites that have a good standing with Google.
