Effects of Readability on SEO

Increasing the readability of the content on your blog will increase the SEO ranking of the site. Here are some ways your site will benefit from good readability:

  • Increased dwell time
  • Reduced exit rate
  • Reduced bounce rate
  • Increased shares
  • Increased conversion rate

As you are improving the readability of the content on your site, you are also improving the behavior of your readers. Online readers have little patience to read through lengthy sentences; all they want is the information they need.

The first few sentences of your content determine how your readers will see the content. If the lines are difficult to understand, they won’t bother going through the content. An increased dwell time and reduced bounce rate will make Google and most major search engines rate you as a useful site. This will make them rank you higher on SERPs.

5. Readability Improves User Experience

You should create content with your audience in mind. Create what they will like to see. The content on your site must be able to provide solutions to their problems or answer the questions they have. You should also optimize your content with keywords and make sure it is user-focused.

6. Help Your Blog Content Rise to the Top of Page One on SERPs

Google has algorithms put in place to assist with easily spotting out quality content. The algorithms clarify synonyms, and this enables Google to guess what the user wants.

From the search box, Google can guess what the user wants, and it provides the user with associated content.

Thank you for sharing Israel.

That's right!

Even myself when it comes to comments, I read some people's site at least twice until I am able to grasp the information and submit a comment.

Readability and being able to transform the meaning of sentence to the site visitor is important.

Excellent, Meena! When you write content that's not crystal clear to the audience, it makes no sense at all. You need to start developing the readability of your site. Thanks again!

Hi Israel, do you have a hint what is a good readability score from Grammarly? I think when I write, I notice it is only in the 60s range...

If you've been getting 60+ in all your write-ups on Grammarly, you're on track. I meant, you are doing well. The next move you will make is getting to the 70s range. Thanks for reading!
