What Does BERT Stand For?
BERT is denoted by Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers. It’s an unbiased network-based facility for NLP (Natural Language Processing) pre-training developed to assist Google Search with understanding the language more in order to have more relevant results served.
With this new update, Google has made the greatest change to its search algorithm since the instigation of the RankBrain 5 years ago. BERT began to roll out for search queries in English language towards the recent times but will, according to Google, extend to other locales and languages with time.
Google has categorically announced that BERT is going to be used internationally, on featured snippets, and in all languages.
What is in BERT for Users?
By applying the BERT representations to both featured snippets and ranking in Google search, Google can do a much more integral job in assisting searchers with finding helpful information.
Google search can understand the context of the words in search queries, especially for more, longer chatty queries, or search queries where prepositions like “To” and “For” count a lot in the meaning. This means users can now perform searches in a way that feels organic for them.
This, of course, means that targeting single phrases is becoming redundant and you should cover a topic as thoroughly as possible. Especially targeting misspelled or incomplete sentences will be redundant as Google will know what the user actually means.
For our websites, I think you have hit the nail on the head - we just need to keep producing quality content and offering answers to people's questions. Then we will be ok.
There will be more information soon about BERT as more people explore its capabilities. I look forward to hearing more.
