Criticism is something that almost everyone doesn’t want a taste of, but unfortunately, it happens to be a necessary evil. We have all been at that point, the point where a pro or co-blogger shared a negative review regarding our performance on a project or particular task. Although dealing with criticism can be really difficult, we can most times take it as constructive feedback.
Looking at it from this angle, we can see criticism as a gift. It gives us an opportunity to improve on our weaknesses and develop our craft even more. But the choice of taking criticism as negative or positive all depends on us as individuals.
In this tutorial, I will share nine impressive steps you can take when handling criticism. These steps will not only help you manage criticism properly but will also help you improve your performance and craft.
1. Follow up
Scheduling a follow-up conversation with the person that has criticized you will show that you are serious and willing to improve and work on your weaknesses. In this part, most people may feel too egotistic or at least too shy to start a follow-up conversation.
Having a follow-up conversation will not only help you improve your performance but will also help in building a stronger and better relationship between you and others.
You may need to make a counterargument, or at least clarify yourself before those who might be wrongfully criticizing you.
While this tutorial touch on the points, perhaps we could have more case studies that we can learn from other members experience.
Thanks again!
I've always said, without the negative, the positive is virtually and naturally impossible.
And as you mentioned, "criticism is a gift", and we should welcome it with open arms knowing within yourself, your heart... you have good intentions... but could also use some pointers.
Everyone comes out with the growth of my favorite virtue patience as well as ultimately more knowledgeable on both ends.
Good stuff! I enjoy reading all of your posts.
Thanks again, sir.
