I have to admit that I didn't undertand the use for shortening links but as Twitter has become a big part of my social strategy, Bitly has come into it own.
All you need to do is copy and paste the url into the 'shorten' box and wait a couple of seconds. Hey presto, the shortened link appears for you to copy and paste wherever you need.
It also give you the traffic that clicked on the link.

Hi Jackie i have a google thing that's free and does the same as lastpass.com just remembers your sign in deails.
There is another one i would recommend, it's not quite free but very cheap and well worth it's wait in gold for me, www.postplanner.com to help with posts on Facebook, twitter and google+
