1. Repeatedly Study Your Analytics

Following up with your website performance can help you understand the piece of content on your website that doesn’t work for your audience and the things that do. Once you are able to spot these likes and dislikes, you will be able to create better content. Here are some things you should inspect:

  • Sources of traffic: To be clear on which sources bring traffic to your website can be very helpful to you as someone who creates content. The metrics can give you hints on where to invest your efforts in order to get the best results. Let’s take Facebook as a case study; if your website happens to get more traffic there, then something about your brand or audience could be the cause
  • The Bounce rate of pages: This is the percentage of your visitors that quit a webpage without visiting another page on your website. If your bounce rate happens to be high, then it is an indication that something needs to be changed. The high bounce rates can happen as a result of the slow loading speed, or low call-to-action on your page
  • Time spent by visitors: If you look at the average time spent by visitors on your webpage, it will enable you to know the reading habits of your visitors. For example, if your viewers spend more time on a particular page than they do on others, then it can give you an idea of what your visitors like.

2. The Load Time of Top Performance Pages should be Decreased

Higher bounce rates are primarily caused by the slow loading speed of web pages. Google says the speed of the page is equal to the revenue generated. In simpler terms, when your pages are slow in loading, the chances of your visitors leaving are very high. For this singular reason, the speed of your website can determine your SEO ranking.

Improving the speed of your website should matter to you; it might help you understand the likely cause of your pages slowing down and give you solutions to them.

3. Your Meta Description and URLs Should be Easy to Read Through

The Meta description of your webpage can help Google know what your page is all about, and so is your URL. Although there are no rules regarding the length of these two (Meta description and URLs), your target should be to make them clear and concise.

Here are some tips to make your Meta description and URLs clearer to your viewers.

  • Use simple words: Ensure to use simple-to-understand words, in order to make them short and straight to the point
  • They should be keyword-rich: You should always ensure that your Meta description and URL include the keywords you are targeting.
