Would you like to stagger your comments over several days?

Site Comments 2 is great for engagement, interaction, sucking up to Google :-) and giving you the opportunity to add more content.

I've seen questions from a couple of members asking if they should approve and post all the comments at once or spread them out over a few days. The worry is that a sudden splurge of comments might look suspicious to Mr G.

I've no idea if that's true or not but it would seem more natural if the comments appeared over a few days, in my opinion.

The problem is, if you approve a comment (with or without adding a reply) in Site Comments, it is automatically published to your site. If you delay approving it, you're doing a disservice to the commenter.

Be kind to your commenters

If someone has spent time reading your article and creating a comment, I think it's polite if you approve it (or disapprove) fairly quickly so they can get the credit for it. I've had a comment stuck in Pending for 4 days and another member reported a 6-day delay!

So how can you approve a comment but delay its appearance on your website?

Hi Rob & Michelle - it seems obvious but when I got to that part of the training it took me a little while to get my head around. Throw in the requirements for writing a good comment and, while it's still not rocket scienve :-), you do have to know what you're doing :-)

Thanks, Susan. I'm still using it with my last bunch of comments. I think it's more natural.

Neat...gotta take a look at this. I thought though, that there was part where it asked how you want to get the comments...but maybe that is the old system...gotta check out the new system. Thnx for the heads up, though, Ian.

Hi Michelle - Do let me know if I got it wrongg! I wrote the comments steps from memory. I was going to go through it all step by step to make sute it was correct but I'd put off writing this for ages and didn't have any comments to run with.

LOL...I know all about 'postponing things' and 'perfection'...so I am happy that you got it done. I will let you know once I get around (postponing...lol) doing it...maybe later this week.

PS
I just 'bit the bullet' and took a few minutes out of my schedule to test it..yes, it was the old system. With the new site comments, you do not get the option to 'stagger comments'...so thnx for your tips.
M...again...LOL
(working on my procrastination part, LOL)

Ah, that would have been a very useful feature to include :-(

I'm quite busy now, looking for things I can put off doing :-)
