Lets juice the site up a bit and get some plugins fired up to give the site that extra oomph.
Here's the one's I use: (they're all free)
Askismet: (this one took me a little time to get it. It is free but they will try and sell it. Select it's for a non-commercial use and a single site)
CBNet Favicon: You know this little things in your browser to the left of the web address. This is what this does. If you use WA hosting you get that ugly looking plesk icon. (blue thing with ladders) You can put any sort of small image in there. Wealthy Affiliate has WA in that part. This is the plugin to make you look pro even when you haven't a clue.
CB Net Ping optimizer: Jay recommends this one and I think it regulates the amount of pings your site sends out when you update. (later I'll give you a ping list to pop in there. Works a treat :) )
Easy Privacy Policy: One click privacy policy on your page. You can donate to them for the plugin but it is free. When I used without a donation I would include their link at the bottom of the page. Then I paid them a donation and didn't link out. You can do it without donating by selecting the box at the bottom, but I've a bad conscience and if I get something for free I feel the need to reciprocate. If that means giving a link back then I'll do it. Now I don't. I gave them $3 so to me I don't feel bad for taking their link out. Yeah, stingy amount but it could've been a buck.
Note: Remember to change your email address to your sites address before generating the policy. My first one went live and I realized my private email was exposed to the world. Not good!
Exclude Pages From Navigation: This is great when you want to keep your blog/site looking small. If you're article marketing you could end up with a hundred pages. Each page you put up you get the option to exclude it from your site navigation menus. Similar to making it private but it will still be indexed in Google using this plugin. You can have a site with what looks like 10 pages but really you've got 110 pages. Only the important one's show to your visitors and the others help you rank in the serps and drive traffic from tons of different keywords.
Go Codes: I like this for clickbank hoplinks. Instead of the ugly ones you get, this will work like my linker does (WA tool). Makes your hoplink read like this...yourwebsite.com/go/recommends
The end string can read whatever you want it to read.
Google Analytics for Wordpress: You cannot be without your website data. This is what does this. Hooks you up to google to get your traffic data, keywords and all the good stuff you need to know to grow it. (needs a google account...again Free)
Google XML Sitemaps: One click sitemap generation. Install the plugin, generate it, then click the link when it tells you sitemap was created... this will take you to the sitemap.xml page on your website where it was created. Take that to google.com/webmasters/tools. Jays got a webinar coming up for that to show you how to set it up.
You'll find it under wabinars menu called
Tracking Traffic, Keywords & Stats with Free Google Tools – (it's in March if you get this later and need to find it in the archives)
Anyway once your in just input your fulldomainname/sitemap.xml
Then You'll definitely want the
All in One SEO Pack. This ones a must. Gives you complete control over the search engines. Your googles boss with this one. If you tell them you want all this stuff
==>YA BETTER INDEX THIS
