Google Analytics is free and once you have set up your Google Account you can use the same email address and password to access Analytics you can also do it from your blogger account control panel, but I go to the website in a new window so I can just transfer the code to blogger http://www.google.com/analytics/.

If you never used Google Analytics you will be over whelmed with the information it gives you so I recommend that you take some time and play with it. if you have never use it the page wil open and you will have a place to add your site url.

In the screen shot above I have removed all my URL's that are listed in the far left colum but as you can see at a glance I have listed the number of vistors, time on site and bounce rate as well as the % of increase in traffic for each site, the yellow symbols are new sites I have just added and because there has been no traffic to these sites yet Analytics has not verified that it is getting data. At the buttom of this page is a link to add a new site so I click on that and add the new site url.

All you need to do is fill in the information and then click finish and a new window will open.

Now you see the yellow box at top states trackin not installed, what you do at this point is tick one of the boxes under #1 and if your going to use adwords you can also tick the track adwords, now all you have to do is copy the code from # 2 and added to your site. back to are blogger blog control panel and click on Layout then click on Edit HTML.

This opens the above window at the botton of the page you will see the closing body tag we want to add the code just above it.

Add Code Here

Then click save template.

we are almost done what we want to do is keep the search engines happy but at the same time not distract the vistor, so we need to add a contact, about and privacy statement. so lets go to posting.

I will now creat a post for each but instaed of clicking Publish Post I will click on post options this will open the below window.

From here I can set the time and date that I want the post to be published, I ticked the Scheduled at and put in a date for last month and hit publish, so now when I add my landing page content using todays date the only content I want the vistor to see is my landing page so what I will do now is go to Setting and click on Formatting.

Here I will set the Show number of post to 1 on the main page, here is where you also can set your time zone information click save. now lets post our main landing page content (note I just used an old article for demo)

After I put my content in I want to click on post option and tick the Don't allow comments and hide existing and also the post date and time should be set at automatic then in the labels box add 4 to 6 keyword phrases this will be your meta tags for the search engines, now click publish.

Here is the finished page, a nice clean fast loading site. You don't have to leave the blog archive link up if you don't want to just remove it from your Layout page under Page Elements
