Getting Started With Scoop.It!

STEP 1.. Go here....

http://www.scoop.it/

STEP 2: Join for Free

Yea, click the Join link and follow the instructions. It's not hard so I'm not gonna document that wee process. If you joined WA, you won't have a problem. :-)

You can even join with your Twitter account or Facebook. (This is a great conversion tactic, BTW - tying in a join process with a one-click social login. Keep that thought in your back pocket.)

Okay, so after you have registered and logged in, your new Scoop. It! Dashboard will appear similar to this....

Okay, I have two Curated Content "magazines" you'll see in the lower left corner, Affiliate Marketing and Fitness and Nutrition. I set these up months ago. But, that's not the focus of this. You can gain backlinks without setting any of that up.

What I would like you to notice in the snapshot above it two wee little sections.....

One is the My Community option. Basically, these are folks that I have followed or they have followed me within the Scoop. It! community. Again, this isn't like the unique WA community we have here. It's more of a social type, exclusive for website owners and professionals. These are the folks you'll seek out for backlinks.

The second wee section I would like to point out is the Search box in the upper left:

This is your buddy! :-)

Okay, now you're in the site for free and you have found the search box. Sure, you can dink around with the other features and I urge you to at some point, but for the main concepts of this training - obtaining backlinks - let's just work with the search function for now.

Moving on!

You put a new light on curation. Others have said don't do it.

I know, Barry! Because Scoop. It! allows the curation on THEIR website and not yours, it's totally safe!

Does this mean that I can curate on Scoop. It!, then move the new creation to my WA site?
