Do multiple practices before running a public webinar.

Before starting,

Practice with google hangouts

They are similar to Hangouts on Air, but cannot be streamed out live. Invite a small group of friends. Feel relaxed and get it going.

How to create an engaging webinar

You can divide your presentation into

  • Introduction - your personal story (5 minutes).
  • Main presentation (25 – 30 minutes).
  • Q & A (10 minutes).

The key part of your main presentation is the last 5 minutes. End it with a call-to-action. If it’s an inspirational or educational one, you can suggest a simple action on what your viewers can do today.

If it’s about a product you can use the 5 minutes on the problems the product is capable of solving. You can also ask them to like your Facebook page or sign up for your email list.

Before creating the webinar, I will suggest you create a rough outline of the introduction, main presentation (with headings, subheadings, and main points). Then, decide on how many minutes you will spend on each section, so it will make it easy for you to know the number of slides you will need. 5 slides per minute are cool. You can use google slide app (accessible on google drive). Make sure you use text with bold headlines (adding images is also cool).

THE CAMERA

Note: You don’t need a TV face to be successful, and you don’t need to know the psychology of your viewers.

Make sure the camera is in line with your eye-height. My reasons:

1. If it is below your eye-height, it will appear as if you are talking down to them

2. If it is above, it will appear as if you are looking up to them.

In case you are using a web camera on your PC, ensure you balance it with a stack of books or work on the height of your seat.

One of the many advantages of Hangouts on Air is that you can switch between showing slide presentations and appearing live on camera. That simply means you don’t necessarily have to be on camera throughout the webinar.

You can appear on camera for the introduction, then slide presentation, and appear again for Q & A.

You can start doing some practices at your leisure time Jeff. Believe me it's worth it. You'll become an authority in your niche, attract more people to your blog, an edge above your competitors.

Wish you the very best Jeff!
