The Structure and Content
we have a niche we have a title we have matched the title for keywords and found a ready made bonus, now we work on the structure and content.
This method works for me, I appreciate that it will not be for everyone but it may help people starting out who are not used to writing. Time spent on this wee structural piece is going to save time and make it a lost easier to write without getting blocked or stuck because you already know what you are going to write.
Use the Template
I have been writing for a long time and I have had a fair bit of training and practice in a many different types of writing over the years but In will always use the template recommended by Kyle in the site content tool as my starter because it just makes things easier. I suggest that if you are new that you do the same:
The beauty of this template is that it immediately gives you a basic structure to build on and all that you have to do is populate it. The site content tool within the template also allows you to track your word count as you go and that is useful for a new writer in keeping track of how much work you have done and how much you need to do to get to the word count you are targeting.
Populate the Template
It is now a relatively easy step to populate Kyles template:
The Content
As you can see I have thought about how my writing is going to flow in the example and under each heading I have placed the prompts that will remind me what areas Is am intending to cover under each of the headings.
Now I can go on to fill out each of the content areas under the heading. The beauty of having this construct in place is if you do have a block in one area you can move to work on another and not lose your logic thread for your overall writing plan.
I often write an end or a middle section before the beginning or in any order that I feel like or the whim takes me because I know that I will not get lost along the way.
Note the secondary call to action in the comments and feedback section, I will explain that in the last part of this tutorial.......
I will say that having the templet is a game-changer. I try my best always to follow it. The other thing I recently did was upgrade to a grammar checker (I think that has improved my writing A LOT). I think I'm okay at writing, but this helps with the tenses as well as spelling.
I think your training is an excellent reminder for some of us and will be a fantastic resource for people new to WA. Thanks!
This is a great lesson and it will be helpful to a lot of people, I am sure.
My approach to writing a post is a little different, but that might also be because I do not promote WA and neither do I write a review.
For both my websites, I write about what I find interesting.
I read, hear, or see something and that activates my grey cells.
Having the idea, I start thinking about the buildup.
I write my post on Words and then transfer it to draft on my website. Get the H2 and the H3 and the other little details. I find my pictures and video.
For my title I have been using Pedros tool all these years. How to Write a Headline? Powerful and Unbelievably Hypnotic! Now that Grammarly does not function anymore after updating to 5.4 WordPress I have been using ProWritingAid these last days and am happy with it as it is more complete than Grammarly and also free.
Stay safe and healthy,
