Most would ask what is the difference between empathy and sympathy

Compassionate people are often moved to work to the end the suffering of others, perhaps by feeding the hungry or educating the poor.

The ability to have and show compassion. Unfortunately not everyone uses compassion, which is a shame, being compassionate is a wonderful quality and can be a truly joyous feeling!
