Practice Discipline

Saying "no" is one of the most conflicting things that we are called upon to do. The sooner you learn how to effectively do this, the better you will feel and the more you will accomplish.

This does not only refer to saying "no" to others. It begins with you!

You need to say "no" to:

  • The demands of your time that you allow to take you away from your priorities.
  • The frequent pinging and rining of your cell phone. (Put it on silent or where you cannot see it.)
  • Your cosy bed that causes you to turn over one more time and start your day late.
  • Not sticking to your budgets - financial and time.
  • Giving the wrong things priority

What you allow is what will continue to happen. You are in control. What many of us lack is the discipline to stick to our plans and structure our environment to support our efforts.

If I want to concentrate on writing a blog post, having my phone close by or many programs and apps open on my laptop will not support me. It is best to remove the distractions and concentrate fully, in the present on doing that one thing.

It helps to be selfish.

Feeling overwhelmed and buried with too much information is often self-created. We continue to feed it by not using discipline and allowing external demands to dictate your priorities.

Taking some time to assess where we are and making some of these changes could help you to become calmer, more focused and more satisfied with your achievements.

Now, what will you do differently?

Cassi, thank you for pointing out very important things. This is a great read! That's what I needed to hear! I found myself in your explanation of having initial feelings of excitement and positive anticipation about WA and then I started feeling overwhelmed with so much information but currently very little time to invest in it. The more I read, the more I am indecisive about my business.
It's amazing how we often know where we make mistakes and do nothing about it, but when someone else point that out to you, then you stop, think about it and start making a change.
So, thanks for this reminder! I will definitely take step by step and use my time wisely as you suggested!

Keep writing, you are definitely doing an excellent job!
All the best!

It is the little things that cause us the most challenge at times and yes, a different perspective helps.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hi Cassi,

Yes, at one point or another , we all are overwhelmed with the amount of information that comes rushing to us. However, we have to find a way to navigate around it all and use only what we need and let the rest fall by the wayside.

Thanks for the great advice you so willing provided to help us avoid the constant overload and in so doing find some form of balance. Wishing you the very best!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Nichola, you have summarised it very well.

Once we are able to find our balance and implement a system that works, things get a lot easier.

I appreciate the time you took to read through the tutorial and provide feedback.

Thank you.

"Stay away from the trap of rising in WA rank early on and wanting to have success like other Members who have been here for a long time. You will be setting yourself up for failing." You caught me Cassi, I find myself doing this many times and now I just got my "lightbulb" moment from Lisa and I'm taking care of other actions to improve my traffic for my site. Excellent training Cassi, you just outdid yourself. You're such a marvelous writer. I'm so proud of you. 👏👏👏

Eugene, you and Rudy have me blushing today.

Yes, that could be a trap that refuses to let you go, if you are not careful.

Thank you so very much for your kind sentiments.

Great advice Cassi and a marvelous piece of training, a timely reminder for me.

I'm used to staying focussed and getting things done in a timely manner in an offline world. However, I seem to get more easily distracted online and need to apply a touch more self discipline!!

My sentiments exactly, Rick.
Everything is just a touch away online so we can get distracted more easily.

Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you Cassi.
I have noticed over the years that when the going gets tough the most underwhelmed people tend to have been the best organised.

The best organised tend to have been those who capture all there 'stuff'' in writing in some form, (thereby dumping their stuff outside of their mind, thereby minimising interference in their minds). They then turn their stuff into action lists that they priorotise based on what they want to achieve.

I agree totally, Richard!

Writing saves the day for me in more ways than one.
