Conclusion:
These scores may rate highly on your “So What” meter. It may seem that we have just made writing content a little more complicated. Will I use these scoring methods in the future? Possibly. But my SEO by Yoast plug-in has the Flesch Readability Ease built in and now that I understand its value, I will pay a lot more attention to it.
Readability of your website is crucial. If our niche is a technical website, then knowing there are ways to analyse writing style, will make it appeal to the geeks who visit your site often. But a general interest niche, one that is aiming for a more widespread demographic, will need to be readable to people of all ages and educational backgrounds. Having a tool to enhance readability may just be the ticket to visitors coming back more often.

P.S. The Flesch Readability Ease Score for this training, excluding the Wikipedia quotes, was 71.3. The SMOG score was 7.2 and the Automated Readability Index 6.6. I love those numbers.
