Lets assume that you already have a GOOGLE+ account set up.

LINKING an Article

Once you have saved your POST on the WordPress admin tool, check out your post real time at your website. When you to this, capture the URL (http://mywebsite.com/post ..) string and copy it.

Open your GOOGLE+ account and click on the "What's new with you" tab on your home page.

Clicking on this item above will expand it and allow you to "ADD A LINK"

This is where you Paste the URL that you copied earlier.

It will expand out with a link to your article and a photo. ( note you can possibly toggle through pics if you have a few in the article if you dont like the first one shown)

Write a brief introduction to your article and throw use your main keyword if you can without is sounding silly. The aim is to get people to read this, so make it fun and enticing.

I use google plus with all my posts. I find it gets them indexed faster too.

Hi Jim
I do have a gmail account , so it should be straight forward.
As soon as I'm ready , I will do this , and let you know how it goes.
Cheers for now Tim.

You usually make it in the first few pages if you're not using an incognito window, which means that google is curating these results just for you and anyone else.
I do recommend sharing it on G+, but keep in mind that it'll only appear so fast in the first page for you. For everyone else it depends on their search and browsing history.

Yep good point to note. I have found it helps with your ranking as well. Ive tried posting some articles were not preforming and it seems to bring up their ranking. Using Google+ is often overlooked, so Ive put it out there. thanks for your comment.
