How to create Internal Links for SEO
Having seen the importance of internal links, the next thing is to understand how to place internal links. I will have to believe that you have one or two articles on your website, else you wouldn’t be linking anything to anywhere.
Also to enjoy the strength of internal links, you should create content consistently.
1) Use anchor text
You should be familiar with short phrases coloured blue, times they are highlighted bold or italicized. These are a good way to create internal links. They should be short phrases describing your links; they talk about your links.
For example: as digital marketers, we must learn how to schedule tweets.
From the example above, I have linked to another subject matter using a related phase. The article I have linked to contains content related to schedule tweets.
Many marketers create links to unrelated articles in the name of creating the link, avoid doing such. Create links with relevance, avoid phrases like click here within articles as much as possible.
2) Revisit Old articles and insert new Links
Revisiting and updating old content is a good Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques. Updating this content with inserting links will be very good. Google will crawl to the page again, re-index the page and most likely will gain a higher page ranking.
To make it much more relevant, you can add paragraphs to the content. You can use that as an advantage to explain the link.
3) Engage pages that highly Relevant
It is natural to have some pages converting more than others. You should be thinking of linking to these pages. It is a usual thing to have some of your content more relevant and have a higher conversion rate than the others.
Linking to such pages has more advantages than Search engine optimization. They help increase your overall return on investment. They will contribute to driving more traffic to your high converting page.
