Whats Next?
I've chucked the next one in because it's something I do myself. It's not a quick solution but it is a good one.
4). Buy and Sell Domain Names.
Now I'm not talking about developing a website with the domain here, I am referring to simply purchasing a domain and sitting on them.
I realise there are a host of other things you can do with a domain name rather then letting it sit unused, but for this excerise I'm only interested in buying, and later selling.
I don't know if you realise it but the domain you purchased could actually be worth more then the website you've built.
It's all a matter of Supply and demand.
Certain words are worth more money in a domain then others. If you a clued up on the system. or have done a lot of research such as I have, then you can purchase some great domain names that are very popular.
The best domains are those that consist of 3 words or less and end with the .com
There are a whole host of Domain names that are known as TLDs (Top Level Domains an end with the letters (EDU, COM, NET, ORG, GOV, MIL, and INT), The ones that are publically available include .Com, .Net and .Org. There are others available but,for the best asset increasing ones you should stick to the three I have mentioned (.Com, .Net, .Org).
We are often told to avoid .NET, However, I have purchased one domain that ends in .net and has a hyphen (-) between between two words. The Hyphen is another thing we a told to avoid. This particular domain was purchased for $15.99 at WA about a year ago and is now valued at over $1400.
I'm not going to go into detail here about what to look for or what words to use, that's up to you to experiment with. I can give you the tools but if I give away all my secrets I'd no longer be making money that way.
The Best place to purchase your Domains is through WA, Yes you can buy them elsewhere and probably for less, but here they are easily accessed, you can build a website if you decide you want to, and they can be parked safely and securily.
Where Can I value my Names?
Okay, so you have purchased a few domains and now you would like to know what they're worth. Well, lucky for you I have some names listed below where you can check them out.
1). Go Daddy. A totally free place to check your values. You can also sell them here, but there is a fee involved.
2). domainindex.com. A free of charge public service site for checking valuations.
The following ones do limited free checks and then you have to join.
3). estibot.com
4). valuate.com
5). sedo.com
Do your research thoroughly before venturing into this. If you don't know what you're looking for it can be a bit like a lottery.
Also. remember that you will have to pay a yearly fee on each domain. So if you start putiing together a portfolio of 100 or more names, you could end up with a big bill.
Having said that, my total portfolio wsa worth over $5000 when I last checked, and it cost me around $200. But I only buy names that I'm totally positive will increase. It's called having that gut feeling.
