Creating A Blog Post Based On Your Chosen Keyword

In order to get targeted traffic, we need to give Google what they are looking for. Google loves fresh new content that is up to date and delivers what the user is looking for.

In order to make sure that we are giving ourselves the best chance to rank for any given keyword, I use a very simple WordPress plugin called Yoast. There are other alternatives, but I recommend using this as its quick and very user friendly.

You can install Yoast within your blog for free. If you don't already have this installed, just head over to the plugins section of WordPress and search for Yoast SEO.

Using Yoast is very simple. Once you have the plugin istalled, it will add a "Yoast SEO" section at the bottom of your posts. This section will give you detailed information about how Search Engine friendly your post is.

Simply enter the keyword that you are trying to rank for in the "Focus Keyphrase" section. Start writing your blog post as normal and Yoast will give you suggestions as you go along.

You're aim here is to get a Green Traffic light within Yoast SEO. When everything is search engine friendly, you'll see a green traffic light, and two green smiley faces. This tells us that we have a great chance of getting ranked for our chosen keyword.

Follow the promts given to you by Yoast and spread out your chosen keyword thoughout your blog post.

Can I used the Yoast and Jaaxy tools at the same website?

Toast is for SEO and Jaaxy is for keyword research and doesn't integrate with your site directly so, yes.

What you don't want to do is have more than one SEO plugin running at the same time on your site.

Yes, you can run both plugins on the same site. Yoast is the only SEO plugin that you will ever need. Some people use an alternative called All In One SEO, but I prefer Yoast as it does the job very well. As Merlynmac says, you don't want any more than one SEO plugin running as once though.

Good Morning Andrew,

Nice lesson. As I am trying to keep the number of Plugins down I have not put Yoast SEO, perhaps I should try that one and see what they say. As I understand it takes you by the hand while writing your post. I think I will have to try this plugin to see what they say about my writing style etc. Thanks for the tip.

Have a nice Sunday, Taetske

Thank you Taetske! Yeah, its not easy to keep the amount of plugins down. I went from around 15, down to 7, just so that I could keep my site running fast. How it will affect my site remains to be seen. But from what I understand, speed is a big deal to Google these days, so it pays to try and get things running as well as they can.

Hope you enjoy your Sunday too Taetske!

Let me know how you progress,

Regards,

Andrew
