7. Increase Your Engagement and Repins
The number of repins during a period of the time strongly determines the number you will be ranked for on Pinterest.
A pin with 100 repins within two minutes will surely rank higher than a pin with 100 repins within ten days.
Another factor that determines your search ranking is the identity of your re-pinners. Active user repining will help you gain more ranking than non-active ones.
Your engagement on repins boosts your chances of showing up in multiple interests feeds.
8. Join a Group Board
Back then, people joined group boards with an aim of earning more traffic and it was effective. But now, joining group boards is a way to get your pins exposed to as many people as possible.
There is more than one contributor in each group board and you are allowed to add pins. Each group board has its guidelines and moderator.
Joining the right group board gives room for your pins to be exposed to many people on Pinterest.
9. Apply For Rich Pins
Rich pins include additional information that makes them stand out on the home feed of Pinterest.
Pinterest has rich pins for movies, places, apps, products, articles, but the popular ones are the rich pins for articles and those for products.
On mobile devices, rich pins show a favicon next to the article but on a desktop, it shows a favicon and a bolded title. The bolded title on the rich pins stands out in the user’s feed.
Rich pins make the Meta description area of the article unchangeable for another user. Rich pins for products show the price of the product, enabling you to earn quality traffic.
Creating Rich Pins
Rich Pins are a form of organic pins that synchronize data automatically from your site to your Pins. It is easy to identify Rich Pins by the additional info at the top and bottom of the image on close-up. If a change occurs on the main site, the Rich Pin automatically updates to reflect the change.
Anyone can use Rich Pins as a free product on Pinterest.
When you make any edits on your website, the recipe Rich Pins and Article Rich Pins will update automatically to reflect that edit.
Applying for Rich Pins
Before you can start using Rich Pins, you need to apply for them first. This is to ensure that your info will sync normally.
- If you have the recipe, product, or post content on your website, you must add rich Meta tags to all the pages
- Once you have added Meta tags to your pages, validate any of your accurately marked-up post pages in the Rich Pins Validator
- If you correctly mark up the webpage you’re applying with, you should get an approval notification
Article Pins
Using the Open Graph format, go to the head tag of your post page and provide info about your article.
Copy the sample text below and paste it into the head tag of your article page. You’ll only need to modify the content to match your own page.
<head>
<meta property="og:type" content="article" />
<meta property="og:title" content="Exploring Kyoto's Sagano Bamboo Forest - CNN.com" />
<meta property="og:description" content="A constant inclusion on lists of "forests to see," here's how to see the real thing." />
<meta property="og:url" content="http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/11/travel/sagano-bamboo-forest/" />
<meta property="og:site_name" content="CNN.com" />
<meta property="article:published_time" content="2014-08-12T00:01:56+00:00" />
<meta property="article:author" content="CNN Karla Cripps" />
</head>
Once you’ve submitted your application, Pinterest will process it in 24 hours.
When your website gets approved, all posts from pages with the accurate Meta tags will show up as Rich Pins whenever you create a fresh Pin. Already-created Pins linking back to web pages that have rich Meta tags will then show up as Rich Pins.
Opt-Out of Rich Pin Data
If you want to opt-out of Rich Pin data from the Post page, just insert this tag into the header of your homepage before the closing body tag:
<meta name="pinterest-rich-pin" content="false" />
If you don’t add the tag to all the pages on your website, they will not be affected.
It’s a paid tool though. But it has been great. Belonging to a competitive niche, one can supplement the traffic by doing Pinterest SEO.
Thanks for this blog. I signed up for a business Pinterest account, but then they billed me every month (at the tune of $900.00 total for six months), for their "ad campaigns". I finally decided to turn my account into a personal account because I simply cannot afford to pay this much for Pinterest.
