Why Keywords Are Important to Marketing and SEO

Keywords are very essential because they do not only help you know how people ask for more information on your topic when using the search engines but also help you understand how exactly your audience describes your service or product.

Fully understanding these words and phrases can help optimize your webpage in answering a search question and also matching search intent. You can use it in developing better and up-to-date ideas for your content that is relevant to your viewers.

Keyword optimization will have an impact on the visibility of your page, and increase your chances of showing up on page one; apart from these, it has a lot of different benefits it can help you offer to your customers. These are some of them:

  • Helps Google understand the content on your page as well as improve your search engine ranking
  • Reduces bounce rates and increases the dwell time on your page, thereby giving you more traffic
  • Drives audience to the appropriate content
  • It helps customers find you easily
  • It helps in communicating with Google about the uniqueness and match of content on your page.

Do Keywords Really Matter in Google Ranking?

As you may be aware, there are more than 200 factors that Google considers while ranking; these factors are placed on a hierarchy. So, where, on the hierarchy, are keywords placed?

We can say it is among the top ten factors. Behavioral factors, like bounce rate and the average amount of time spent on your page, are a much more important factor than keywords; so, this is to say that Google Is majorly interested in what your content entails, and not just the topics and keywords alone.

So, if your content fits a specific keyword comprehensively, then your site will be ranked among the best.

So what can I do about it?

In the aspect of considering content before a topic or keyword, Google only wants you to provide valuable and relevant content for its viewers, so you have to ensure your content is not only useful but also relevant to the keyword it possesses.

Hi Israel,
I understand the urgency and process of finding good keywords.
What I don't understand is how and where to place them. Here you are talking about 4-9 and even more keywords, but the new AIO SEO allows you to place only one keyword phrase (unless you have a Pro version). Do you know how can I place more than one keyword?
Thanks, Jane
