Just a brief intermission between pages!
Wasn't sure where to put this page, so I decided to just place it somewhere in the middle. But anyhow, let's get rolling!
Pinterest, Tips and Tricks!
1. Use those hashtags! Hashtags are very helpful for growth. When I gave it a try, there were far more "impressions" gained than I would've had otherwise. #'s are POWERFUL, and just like Pinterest, are underutilized.
So, how should I do this?
I recommend using your blog post's keyword title as the hashtag and another #withyourwebsitenamehere.
This will help people find you if they are searching for your website on Pinterest. It will also grab people with those low competition keywords!
Do this for each pin you create and you will be more easily discovered by your audience and the curious!
2. Make eye-catching thumbnails! As previously stated, these will grab people's attention, and they by no means have to take up your time.
With "Paint" you'll be able to make simple and unique thumbnails.
Be careful though, you don't want to come across as spammy! Especially if you're trying to promote WA. Just make sure it draws attention and says a little bit about what it is. You can do this easily by simply using:
- Text
- Post relevant picture
- Simple, creative eye-catchers (EX. a small winking smile face)
- Bright (but non-conflicting) colors. If you decide to use some added color, try not to over do it. Use between 1-3 colors, and make sure they look nice together. This will keep it from feeling over-the-top.
Here's another example (remember, it doesn't have to be super fancy!):
Admittedly, the smiley face may be a bit much, but it has a chance of getting more attention.
3. Claim your website.
This is important because both Pinterest and your audience will trust you more. Because they will see that Pinterest has verified you as a legitimate business or blog owner.
They won't be as afraid of being spammed or being mislead with your information. This does make a difference.
4. Leave a brief description on each pin... with intent!
These should be basic, but also encourage communication. Done right, this should lead to more clicks to your website.
EX. "Want to know how to ---- ?"
"What's your favorite ----- ?"
Add this type of message along with the #s and title of you blog post. Don't be afraid to add a more detailed description, this is just a recommendation.
5. If someone comments, comment back!
It's a very basic way to get involved and encourage communication. Most of you are probably already aware of this, but I felt it was worth mentioning.
Ever comment on a YouTube video with a question and not get an answer? Even though it was a small channel, they just never got back to you.
It doesn't feel so great does it? No doubt it will discourage you from making any comments on that channel's other videos, knowing there won't be a response.
Trust me, audiences feel excluded and ignored if they don't get a response.
6. Get the Pinterest button.
The Pinterest button is a tool you can use to spread yourself further on the platform. People LOVE sharing neat looking pictures with friends, followers, etc. This button will allow anyone to pin the images from your posts. This means more exposure and more traffic!
How does this magic button work?
When you post the HTML code for the Pinterest button to your site's code, every picture on your blog will have a Pinterest icon that they can click.
It's easy to customize too. Pinterest will show you all of the designs and functions that they offer.
Thank you for sharing your valuable information. I did learn a lot.
1. What is the significant of the 'Claim Website', why is that important and do I need to?
2. Business Type, what do I put or add from the drop down box?
3. Social Networks, am I using my Google+, Facebook or Gmail to login or do I leave that part alone?
4. Finally, what about Security, do I leave that blank as well or do I fumble around with it?
I would appreciate that when you respond, you answer all 4 questions.
Thank you Jess,
R.J.
Have a Blessed Day!
