Hey there!

It's Marlinda and in this video, I'm going to show you how to sell a book on eBay. I was working on a full version of this on my site and thought it would be a good idea to share it here too.

In this video, I show you how to setup your listing using the eBay app on your mobile phone. If you don't have a mobile phone the steps are pretty much the same just that you have to search for your item instead of scanning it.

If you have any questions, comments or other feedback, please leave them in the comments below.

Do you have any experience selling books on eBay? I'd like to read your tips as well in the comments below. I'm sure many others will find them helpful as well :)

Step 1: Gather Your Books

You might think that selling books on eBay is exclusive to college textbooks but it's not. Any kind of book can be sold on eBay.

Your first task is to collect all of the books that you want to sell. Do NOT try to second guess the price.

Step 2: Research

The next step is to research. You are going to find out:

  1. prices of the exact book
  2. prices of books in the same genre
  3. price history
  4. book editions
  5. and anything you want to know about the book

Create a spreadsheet to document all of your findings.

In the spreadsheet, you will also record the book's:

  • Title
  • Author(s)
  • Edition
  • ISBN #
  • Condition
    • markings, etc.
  • Description

Make sure to take good notes. They will be used later on in the process.

Step 3: Prepare Your Books For Selling

Do not skip this step.

Before you sell your books, you need to get them ready to be sold. Regardless of the book's condition, it needs to be clean.

Cleaning a book is tricky business though. Use as little liquid as possible to clean it as good as you can.

Then once it is as nice looking as you can get it, take some good quality photos. Get pictures of the book's:

  • front
  • back
  • spine
  • interior

Step 4: List Your Books

Once you have all your info, presentable books and good pictures, it's time to put everything together.

Follow the above video to list your book.

Make sure that you use clear language and do not try to hide facts especially when it comes to the condition of the book.

And that's how to sell books on eBay. I hope this information was helpful. Again, if you have any comments, please leave them in the comments box below :)

Marlinda,

The timing for this training is PERFECT! Thank you. I have been building up an inventory of books that I found at auctions to resell. I have been wanting to list them on Ebay - since last week.

Thanks, Marlinda. How much do you normally price the second-hand book that looks New?

Hey Sadie, great question. It depends on the book. When you gather the books that you want to sell, you will research their price. The best thing to do is set it to auction because chances are, the bidding will go higher than it's priced value.

Also when researching on eBay, you will see different conditioned books and what they are selling for.

But I recommend using both 'Auction' and 'Buy Now' because you never know and in the case of textbooks, they're so highly priced at school bookstores that you can still get a pretty decent price on a worn book.

Hope this helps :)
