What You Should Know About Pages and Posts
On blogs, we publish articles as blog posts, and these posts usually appear at the top left side of the homepage where there is no left sidebar at all, with the latest posts at the top of the page.
Blog posts are published more often than pages and these are what bloggers share with friends on social media. And the email/RSS subscribers too automatically get post updates in their email inbox.
But blog pages are steady, although, you may update them anytime you want. And the most recent pages on your blog do not supersede the old ones unlike your blog posts.
Blog pages are mainly published for content like:
- A "Getting started" list of posts
- Affiliate disclaimer/privacy
- Useful information about the service or product you offer
- Basic information about yourself and your website
- Review of products, and many more.
The pointer pages are usually placed in the main menu like the example given in the image below:
Unlike posts, blog pages are not disseminated to RSS subscribers. They are pointer pages on your blog, and receiving comments on them may be of no use.
Question. Should we change the date on the old post to the date you updated or keep the original date?
