XAMPP is a software package containing Apache web server, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin.

You can install it on Windows, Linux, or Mac operating systems.

In this tutorial I'll show you how to install it on a USB drive connected to a Windows PC, but the installation method are pretty much the same no matter where you are going to install it.

Obviously, the very first thing you need to do is to download the XAMPP (lite) application.

Here's the XAMPP download page:

Select your targeted version and click the green "Download Latest Version":

I actually quite like this idea as a great way to 1) backup your site 2) establish a wordpress site locally so you can keep working even when you are travelling to bad internet zones. Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
