Why Adding Analytics without Installing a Plugin May Not Be the Appropriate Choice

  • Tracking Code May be Lost: when you have reasons to change your themes, you may not remember to add your global site tag or Google Analytics tracking code again to the newly installed theme. Throughout the period that Google Analytics tracking code hasn’t been added again to the new theme, you will not be able to keep track of your visitors, whereas, with a plugin installed for tracking, no amount of data can be missed out.
  • Not as Easy as With a Plugin: Installing Google Analytics tracking code on your website without a plugin isn’t as easy as installing a plugin. With the MonsterInsights plugin (the top Analytics plugin for WordPress) installed, setting up Google Analytics becomes an easy task with only a few clicks.
  • You Miss Out on Great Analytics Features: Without installing a plugin, you’ll definitely miss out on great Analytics features such as custom dimensions, events tracking, file download tracking and many more. Without having a plugin installed, setting up those features on your website is time-consuming.

Are you looking for a more convenient way to set up Analytics on your website? You may leverage the MonsterInsights plugin rather.

With just a few clicks, you can set up the following integrated tracking features on your WordPress site using MonsterInsights:

  • Google AdSense tracking – This lets you access who is clicking on your ads.
  • Enhanced e-commerce tracking – This is used for your Easy Digital Downloads and WooCommerce stores
  • Popular post tracking – This helps you find out which posts are most rocking with your audience
  • File download tracking – This shows the number of times a file is downloaded and installed.

However, if you’d prefer to add Google Analytics to your WordPress website without installing a plugin, follow the steps below:

Very nice technical piece and I can see how it would be of benefit. I myself prefer the plugin approach. Have use Monster Insights fro a variety of Wordpress sites without any issue. Keep up the good work.

Excellent, my friend! Good to know you have once used the MonsterInsights plugin and you had no issue with that no matter how little. That proves to others that it's a good plugin to use. Thanks so nicely!
