5. Source code clutter

I admit, nowadays it’s probably not a truly vital factor. The Wordpress interface and the very popular visual builders don't require any coding.

Still, is a quite common practice to use custom CSS codes, child themes, etc. So keep in mind, that having a clean, uncluttered source code will make it easier for the search engines to get to the important, keyword-rich content that must be indexed.

6. Broken links

When visitors follow links to or from your site they are expecting certain content to be available to them once they get to that page. Broken links are not only bad for user
experience but can also be harmful to your site’s loving relationship with Google!

Search engines see links as a vote for a website’s quality. Links to your website and links within your website can affect where your website ranks in search results. Because of this, it’s best practice to either remove or update broken links.

Cleaning up broken links can add context to your website, improve user experience, and make content within your website easier for visitors and search engines to discover. On the other hand, websites with too many broken links can be a signal of low quality to search engines.

7. The robots.txt file

The robots.txt is a simple text document placed in the root of your website that will tell the search engines (crawlers) what they can and what they cannot index while crawling your website. Additionally, if you want to save some bandwidth, you can use the robots.txt file to exclude javascript files, stylesheets or certain images from indexing.

8.5 Virtual Robots.txt

Virtual Robots.txt is an easy (i.e. automated) solution to creating and managing a robots.txt file for your site. Instead of mucking about with FTP, files, permissions ..etc, just upload and activate the plugin and you’re done.

There appears to be a conflict between the Yoast SEO and the All in one SEO optimizer and it recommends deleting one of them. Is one better than the other?

There is a conflict because both plugins that are responsible for the same tasks. You should use only one SEO plugin.

Personally I use Yoast, but that should be your decision.

I prefer AIO SEO, so you can see that people differ! AIO SEO is simpler for newbies to use, so that's my recommendation.
