Here we are, last page! This is what you should NOT do with regards to Site Feedback, some of which I have already touched on in the previous lessons.
What NOT to Do
- Don't say "Can't find anything to approve upon, nice job."
- Don't give suggestions on stuff that will come up in training.
- Don't be vague
- Don't be lazy (I hope no one is just being lazy, but I figured I would put this in here).
Examples of Poor Feedback
I am not attemtping to shame anyone and that's why I left out names. I understand some people might not know how to give feedback and that's okay. That's why I created this training.
I simply want to give examples of why something isn't good feedback and HOW it's not useful. I'm only using one example from the different kinds of not-helpful feedback.
Here are some examples of feedback I've received that have not helped me at all.
What can I do with this one? Absoultely nothing. For one thing, my site is about community cats and while cats can be amusing, the situation with millions of outdoor cats living wild is NOT amusing at all. So it's not like this person even looked at anything in particular. Apparently, there wasn't anything glaring wrong at opening my site, but other than that? I have got nothing useful out of this.
I actually get the feeling this person dislikes cats as they purposely distanced himself from cat lovers multiple times in such a sort few paragraphs. Which is fine, if there was actually something useful here. In this case, this person should have skipped my request.
Again, nothing really useful. A comment on good use of cat pictures and not too many things wrong with it, whatever that means.
Pretty sure this one is just congratulating me on using a website to make money to help cats. Not exactly helpful to improving my site.
This is a comment, not feedback.
AND that one is talking about monetizing when I had already started adding affiliate links and the like. I hadn't been approved for Google Adsense yet. That's not helpful at all, because the monetizing was happening already. Sigh.
And On and On
I haven't included any of the ones honestly trying to give me feedback, even if it's something minor like a button move change, etc. I've gotten compliments galore, which is always awesome, of course. Compliments with specifics about what you like is better than a vague, "Hey, this is awesome, and I can't find anything to improve upon."
If you can't think of anything to IMPROVE upon, then just point out specific stuff you LIKE instead. Be specific though!
Like I said, I'm not trying to shame anyone, I'm trying to use examples of not so helpful feedback and explaining why they aren't helpful.
I haven't even come close to listing all the various types of useless feedback I've received. I just gave the one of each type of common feedback missteps I've seen and explaining why they are not useful.
Be Useful, Not Useless!
Remember, fellow affiliates, some people buy credits to ask for feedback. You are wasting their money when you don't offer anything useful.
Some members will spend hours commenting to get up enough credits to ask for feedback. You are wasting their precious time when you don't offer anything useful.
If you can't help them by telling them the good and bad and the mistakes of their websites, and thus offering some value, then SKIP IT!
Let someone else tackle that website.
If you simply don't know how to give Feedback, I have just laid it out for you exactly how to give constructive, hence useful, feedback to your fellow WA members.
Did I Forget Something?
Comments? Suggestions? Did I forget something? Have you received a load of unhelpful feedback with the release of free feedback this week, like I have? Did this training help you?
Want to share, without naming names or posting icon pictures, the worst Site Feedback you've received?
Let me know below!
Now all that one has to do is to use this as a checklist while giving feedback on any site anywhere.
Excellent work, thank you!
Wish you much success!
