Step One:
Go to Offer Feedback and get your assignment!
Check the Green Highlighted area for your assigned topic you're supposed to offer feedback on! In this case, it's General Feedback.
Step Two:
Go to the webpage given.
Unless you were directed to the home page of a website, you want to stay on the webpage you were given. That article is what they're wanting you to look at, NOT the entire website.
You can browse around if you want, but stick to the page the website owner is wanting your help with.
If you're given the home page as a starting point, then it's likely they are looking for feedback on their entire site.
Step Three: What Do You Like About the Site?
So look over the website or webpage given, paying particular attention to the area they want help with (Site Design, Images, Content, etc).
What areas do you really like about the website? Are the colors simple and not distracting? Is it pretty without being overthetop? Do they write really well? Are their graphics awesome? Do they have an interesting site layout?
I always list what I LIKE about a website first.
Why?
Because POSITIVE feedback is important too! They don't know they're doing something spectacularly well if no one tells them so! If you like something, TELL them! Don't lie, don't sugar coat anything, but you have to give them the good part of their website at some point. You definitely don't want them to change the good part of their site.
Don't always look at improvements, look at what is done well too! That feedback is super useful too.
Step Four: What Do You Not Like?
Are the graphics too distracting? Too many popups? Is the content too confusing to read? Is there errors with the code that are showing up? Are there too many animations? Not spell checked? Inaccurate facts?
As an average internet user that stumbled upon this site, what would turn you OFF about visiting? What would make you hit the back button?
Step Five: Are they doing anything wrong?
I don't mean this morally. I mean, are they an Amazon Associate and listing prices? Are they obviously copying content? (Okay, that's morally wrong, I know.) Are links broken? Is there affiliate links without an affiliate disclosure? Does the site have a lot of posts with no link to an About Us page?
Like I mentioned previously, do NOT make suggestions on monetizing or legal pages if the site is new and they haven't gotten there yet. Not ALL sites are going to be product review sites.
If they're doing something MORALLY wrong, like scammy sites or spammy or a porn site or selling drugs, just hit the report button. Don't waste your time providing feedback on that.
Step Six (optional): Make suggestions on content ideas as a visitor.
If you want to be extra helpful, make suggestions on content.
For example, If you have a suggestion for a post idea, like "hey, I don't know much about this topic and that little bit you mentioned isn't enough for me to know what it is. Maybe have a post elaborating on it." This is USEFUL.
If you're interested in the niche personally, you could provide ideas on what you like seeing in a niche website like that one, if you like. Something OUTSIDE of what we learn at Wealthy Affiliate. Remember, you're just a regular visitor. As a visitor interested in the niche, what posts do you like to read personally?
Do NOT make suggestions about review posts and the like on every single site. WA teaches you about product reviews. The website owner doesn't need that suggestion. Do not make suggestions on stuff we learn here at WA. They will eventually get to that training or they have chosen to not include product reviews on their website. Whatever the case may be.
Example of USEFUL Feedback
I'm going to show an example of useful feedback I've personally received, without capturing the name of the WA member who gave it to me, just in case.
It mentions the good and what I can do to improve it. It's specific. You don't have to go all out like this. You can just simply write a detailed paragraph. That's cool too.
Next up: What NOT to Do When Giving Site Feedback!
Now all that one has to do is to use this as a checklist while giving feedback on any site anywhere.
Excellent work, thank you!
Wish you much success!
