The application for the Employer Identification number is not a difficult one. It is basically understandable. And even if the instructions say that you don't need to fill out an area, it is best to fill out the whole thing.
Because most of the time you will be asked these questions especially on the phone. You don't want your application to take longer then it should. So I would recommend that you fill it out accurately as possible. If there is something that you question on it, call the IRS before submitting the application.
Not all Accountant's or Lawyers know how to fill out the Form SS-4. They call the IRS all the time to get answers. They won't tell you that though. So if they can call, so can you. They are not the enemy.
If you ever have doubts, call them. It is when they have to call you that people have the most trouble with the IRS. And yes, the IRS has humans working for them. They sometimes have a bad day too. Everyone does. So if you come across that one person who is having a bad day, give them your smile. They need it.
If you have trouble with applying for your Employer Identification Number or if you have trouble figuring out any other information for the EIN, you can also visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
I hope this helps. If anyone has any more questions on this topic, please don't hesitate to let me know or call the IRS.
