There is no need to use an FTP program or download any files to your computer. Today, I want to show you how quick and easy it is to create a favicon using the plugins option on WordPress:
1. Log in to your WordPress site and go to your Dashboard.
2. Go to “Plugins” >”Add New”. Type in the keyword “favicon”, hit “Search Plugins”. You’ll see a list of available favicons to choose from on this page. The one I’m using is All in One Favicon. I like it because it’s the latest version (4.0) and it supports .ico, .png, and .gif files.
3. Click “Install Now”. Once it’s installed, click on “Activate Plugin”. This will take you to the Plugins Page. Find the All in One Favicon and hit settings to configure it to your liking. I chose to download my picture as a .gif and selected the “Front End Gif” and “Back End Gif”. It worked like a charm. Now you can view your site and see how it displays your new favicon on the site’s browser tab.
That’s all there is to it!
Also, if you want to download the All in One Favicon to your computer, you can do so from the WordPress.org site.
Go to the next page and find out how easy it is to install the favicon if your theme has it as a customized feature.

Vice training...but, I have a question. I created a favicon at favicon.cc and then I downloaded it. It downloaded it as an icon image. How do I change it to a .gif image so that I can use it in the All In One Favicon plugin?
