Have you ever visited a WordPress site and saw the unattractive favicon placeholder on the site tab? It’s certainly not pretty.

Notice the unattractive one on my Dashboard and the attractive one on Google's homepage.

After using a theme that didn’t have a customized feature for this option, I tried using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to install it and I just became more confused by the process. I knew there had to be an easier, better way around this problem.

Well, there is and I couldn’t wait to share it with my friends at Wealthy Affiliate!

Before we get to the training, I want to explain what a favicon is and why it’s important to have one installed on your site.

Simply, it’s a tiny picture that is found on a browser’s site tabs. It’s an important feature to have because it makes your site look professional, it helps to build trust, and it just makes an overall good impression with your visitors.

If you want to brand your site and have it symbolize what you or your business stands for, it’s a good idea to implement this into your WordPress site.

Uploading one is very simple. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can. Using the methods in this tutorial, your icon will go from blah to pretty darn cute in no time.

Go to the next page and I will show how I set this up on my site in a few easy steps.

Vice training...but, I have a question. I created a favicon at favicon.cc and then I downloaded it. It downloaded it as an icon image. How do I change it to a .gif image so that I can use it in the All In One Favicon plugin?

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

It depends on what operating system you're using. I have Windows 7 with Paint as one of the programs contained in it.

When I download an image to my hard drive, I open Paint, click on the drop down button and then I choose "Open", find the pic I want to manipulate, and open it.

Once it's in Paint, you can choose "Save As" to save it as a .png, .jpeg, .bmp, .gif, or other format. Hope this helps!
