So ...

We are going to use a handy plugin called Widgets In Columns.

Here it is:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/widgets-in-columns

Note: you'll see the usual warning message saying that the plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest major releases of Wordpress ... Ignore it ... I've tested the plugin on Wordpress 5.2 and works fine.

This awesome plugin comes with two options for widgets: one to set the width of the widget, and an option to show an icon beside the widget. Also, you can define new rows of widgets (!) using the Divider widget. More than that, the plugin supports RTL (Right To Left) layouts as well, so it's compatible with RTL languages like Arabic, Hebrew, etc.

It's a very small plugin (8 KB), but let's see the usual speed tests ...

Here are my results before installing the plugin ...

... and the result after installing and activating the plugin:

Now let's see how it works ...

This is a great topic for a tutorial. I recently suffered painfully trying to figure this all out on my own, finally, I figured out I could download a plugin to help with widgets in a column. I had to experiment with a few before I got it all sorted. I couldn't find a tutorial yet like this on WA, so its good you made one!
