What is a Site Icon or Favicon?
A favicon which is short for favorite icon or site icon as many people are more commonly referring to it as, is a tiny image that is associated with a website. You will see in the browser tab of your website pages. When we design our niche websites here at WA, we can create such an icon and upload it to our website by several different ways, and browsers that support them and most of them do, will then make use of it.
Where do Site Icons / Favicons Appear?
Browsers that provide favicon / site icon support typically display it in the following locations:
- The browser's tab, directly above the address bar.
- In the history
- Next to the page's name in a list of bookmarks
- As a desktop icon
