Step 1 - How To Access Text Editor in WordPress
To do anything with HTML inside WordPress, you must work in the Text Editor.
WordPress offers two types of editors when you are creating pages and posts.
- Visual Editor
- A visual view that converts your HTML into a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) view with easy buttons and options to pretty up your content
- Text Editor
- A text view that allows you to customize the HTML version of your content by manually adding html code snippets
You are able to easily toggle between editors at anytime, as much as you want.
But, before you can create a content box in HTML, you need to access the Text Editor.
Follow these instructions below.
1. Log in into your WordPress website
2. Edit the Page or Post
You Want to Add a Content Box to
You will automatically open up in the Visual Editor view. This a WordPress default.
You can see that I have a content box within in my post. This box has a blue border, a white background and black text.
The Visual view will show you exactly how your box will look on your website.
3. Click on Text tab, located next to Visual tab
The Text View converts all of your content into HTML. You now see a bunch of text and code.
My blue box is still there. You are now just seeing in it's raw HTML code form.
Now, you are ready to create your own content box.
