Your website is the most important component of your digital marketing strategy. The better your marketing is, the more visibility your website has. Which is a good thing, but isn’t enough, because if you don’t know how to create a business website that is really effective, the visibility is completely useless …

But, what makes a website effective? Well, the concept itself it’s quite simple: you need to create an intuitive, highly functional and user-centered “ecosystem” where your visitors can accomplish their goals effortlessly. The problem? Well, the concept might sound simple, but the successful implementation – due to the large number of involved factors – will require a lot of time and effort.

In this tutorial I am going to share with you the most important factors and considerations that will help you to create a truly efficient website. Check them out, craft your task list, break it down into smaller manageable tasks, and get started! These important factors and considerations fall under 3 main categories: appearance, content and functionality.

And I won't lie to you ... If you want to stand out and if you want to learn how to create a business website that makes real money, you’ll have to make SERIOUS efforts. The truth is that creating and launching a brand new website can be a tedious task. Dozens of tough questions will arise in front of you, and each answer will generate even more questions. How are you going to structure your data? How many pages do you need? What are you going to write on each page? How do you get people to buy from you? And so on …

But, here’s the thing: your web project doesn’t have to be so difficult! The key is to have a logical and actionable task-list! Relax, it’s definitely not rocket science, and I am going to share with you anything you need to know in order to craft a nice actionable task list for your next site building project …

Before anything else, you should ask yourself 3 essential questions:

1. What would be the best domain name for your business?

Choosing the right domain name is essential. A poorly-chosen domain name will have a widespread negative impact on your online – and offline – marketing efforts. Make it short, relevant and memorable. If you already have a business name, your domain name should be relevant to your business. If your business name is too long, you’ll have to creatively shorten it (while still remaining on brand!). The shorter and more relevant your domain name, the better. What is really important: stick with what makes sense to your target market! Also, try to avoid using hyphens, numbers and special characters in your domain name. And finally, don’t make hasty decisions! Take all the time you need to find the perfect domain name, because it’s extremely painful to change a domain name once you have got your marketing underway!

This is excellent training. As you stated, a well designed website attracts and retains visitors - your post accomplishes the same thing! A generous amount of information all in one spot!

I do have a question and hope this is an okay place to ask: What is the difference between the function of a site map and the All in one SEO WordPress plug-in?

Thanks for your feedback Susan!

The sitemap is just one important factor of the whole SEO topic. It must be submitted with or without SEO plugins in place.

And the AIO SEO plugin is a quite complex solution that handles many SEO factors ...
