First off all, let's define the term itself.
A broken link is a hyperlink (URL) which is linked to an empty or non-existent external or internal webpage, resource, file, etc.
When a broken link is clicked, the annoying "404 page not found" error message will be displayed and needless to say, these messages won't help you to build trust or to create a good user experience ... And of course, they are bad for your SEO, especially if those links are internal links pointing to your own content ...
And believe me, there are many reasons and possible scenarios ... Moving sites to a new domain, changing the site and/or the menu structure, deleting media library elements without updating the affected URLs, etc.
More than that, you can't control the externel resources that are hosted on external websites. If the site owner made any changes you can easily end up with broken URLs without actually knowing that your readers are redirected to empty pages, error messages or invalid affiliate links ...
So I've decided to create this short tutorial where I will show you how easy is to avoid losing money due to broken links.
