OK. Now let's see the second option ...
Method #2: Adding random header images using a plugin
As you can guess, this method usually is more flexible, giving you more control on how to show different or random header images for WordPress posts, pages and category- or tag-archives.
First of all, we need to install and activate the WP Display Header plugin.
Here it is:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-display-header/
Upon activation, open your targeted post in the post editor.
And you'll notice a new "Header" meta box below the post editor:
As you can see, you can select any previously uploaded header image and use it as a header for the targeted post.
Or, if you want, you can choose the "Random" option to randomly display different header images.
And needless to say, you can always add more header images using the aforementioned customizer feature.
And there is more ...
The plugin will allow you to change the header images for your category and tag archive pages too.
Go to Posts => Categories, and click the "Edit" button below the category you want to change:
And voilá, the same "Header" box on the category edit screen:
And of course, don't forget to hit the "Update" button too!
And you're done! A simple walk in the park ...
And that's it my friends!
