If you do not already have a Google Analytics Account. Please follow these step to create an account:

  • Go to https://www.google.com/analytics.
  • Once you are logged in, click on Admin at the top.
  • In the middle Property Column, click on the drop-down and Create new property.
  • Fill in your website details and click Get "Get Tracking ID button.

Copy the Tracking ID and head back to your Word Press Dashboard and follow the instruction given at the beginning of this Tutorial if you are only using the Tracking ID.

From this point, I am showing you how to add the Tracking Code Script.

  1. Go to your Google Analytics account page.
  2. Click on "Admin" at the top of this page.
  3. Select the Property to get tracking. (your website name).
  4. Scroll down and click on "Tracking Info."
  5. From the drop-down select "Tracking Code".

Follow process he gave you, but you don't have to copy all the whole HTML Tag code it's only the code in quote you need to copy to All in one SEO (google webmaster tool).
Example
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="mKlzrKBPUYY2LuPGXEzb8G6y2XgM5X7ZFZrXyLJb2x0" />
Copy only mKlzrKBPUYY2LuPGXEzb8G6y2XgM5X7ZFZrXyLJb2x0

is it necessary to copy and paste the Script in the head section if I have already pasted the tracking ID in All in One SEO?
Reply

No Asen, it is not necessary for you to use your Google ID twice on the same website. Prince is simply offering members a 2nd option.

Here is Kyle's training for verification:

Very handy tutorial. It is important to know, as you mentioned already, that after adding the tracking code to the theme, when changing or updating the theme, it is necessary to add the code again.

Best regards!

You don't have to edit your header like that if you just follow the training here and do it in the All in One SEO plugin.

I added google analytics to my site weeks ago and even have the option showing up on my dashboard, but then I go to https://www.google.com/analytics., I am prompted to sign up. I am sing the correct log in information. I am very confused as to why I am not seeing any analytics. It's as if google want me to sign up all ove again. The problem is that I've already added the code to my site from when I first signed up

When I got to templates I clicked on main index template, I am stuck where to now past the page. I have included a screen shot of the first part of my edit themes page. I would be very grateful for some assistance.

I think he’s referring to the one Kyle shows on course 5 where he pasted the tracking ID using the All In One SEO.

To do that, when you’re on your WP dashboard, go to All in One SEO – General Settings. Scroll down until you see Google Settings. There’s a box where you can paste your Google Analytics ID.

Hi thanks for this link, I have done exactly this and still not verifying, is there a waiting period before it will verify?
Reply
Labman Premium
Nope, should be almost immediate. I have done this in the past.

In Google Analytics:
1. Click on Admin
2. In the center column make sure to select the site you wish to work on.
3. Click Property Settings
4.Scroll all the way to the bottom.
There should be a selection box under Search Console.
It should allow you to verify Google Webmaster Tools (Search Console) from there.

Thank you Thank You Thank You! I removed Google Analytics by Yoast thinking SumoMe was taking care of my analytics, but then realised I had no analytics at all! Eek! Now have re-installed analtyics using the method you described in Lesson 2, and analytics is working again! Hip hip hooray!! Just one thing though, your training said I must add the code inbetween script & script, I had to add the script & script & script as well for it to work.
Reply

So we aren't supposed to have < code > and < / code > included when we copy the code? Whenever I try to copy the code BETWEEN those two, it includes those two codes as well. (I had to put spaces between the codes or they wouldn't post).

Cheryl,

go ahead and copy and paste those. Then after pasting You will be able to remove and replace.

I hope that helps,
