Once you have both your text and images ready for your article its time to start putting everything together. There are a couple of things that you need to remember when inserting images into your WordPress post. First of all you should remember that images can slow your page loading speed down. And secondly you should think about mobile device users too.
Keeping your images as small as possible can help to improve the load time of your post or page. But you should also think about how the image looks to mobile users. Its always a good idea to test your article on both a desktop device and also a mobile device if possible to ensure that everything looks right.
In the example article at the beginning of this training I was writing a review for a product called "Regal Wealth". I took a screenshot of the title logo from the official site and added some Word Art to make a title for my post.
Lets insert this image into the post...Inserting an image into a WordPress post
Since I want this image at the beginning of my post I will first of all ensure that the cursor is right at the beginning of the article text. Next click the "add media" button.
After clicking the add media button, select the upload files tab. Click "select files" and choose the location of your saved image. Your image will be uploaded to WordPress.
Once your image has been uploaded its a good idea to fill in your "alt text" description. This is also referred to as an "alt tag". The alt text section can be seen on the right hand side of the media library when you upload your image. Filling in your alt tag description will help with the overall search engine optimization of your site. The alt tag should be a description of what the image is about or the title that is depicted within it. Alt tags are used as a way of describing an image for blind internet users. But you can also include keywords within your alt tags which is great for SEO.
Once you have uploaded your image and written your alt text, just click the "insert into post" button on the bottom right of the screen.Clicking the image itself will bring up the editing options for the image. From these options you can align the image to the left, center or right of the text. Here you can see that I have selected to align the image to the left of the post.
