Hey TA,
Just thought I'd let you know about the Askimet controversy over on Kyle's Cert Course 4 Comments. Stephanie33 is emphatic about her claims that Askimet IS NOT free. Says she has been paying $5 a month and that when she added her API Key to two other sites she was notified she would be paying $15 a month.
Clearly she signed up for Askimet Plus, not Askimet Basic. Kyle mentions in the video that some members get confused, but Stephanie has been on the phone with Askimet Plus Customer Service who told her WA members are improperly using the Basic plan because of language that says all "commercial" sites must be using one of the paid plans.
I am assuming our sites fall under the "personal" definition because as Affiliates no actual Sales Transactions occur on them. That is taken care of by the merchant with whom we are approved affiliates.

Hello Topachiever,
Maybe one extra point you can add: I just visited a site for a user with problems with her comments...
But the site was so slow, really so slow, I could return to another window and write a complete sentence before the page I clicked on was loaded (this sentence would have been too long :-) ).
And she had the Askimet plugin configured so it was on her frontpage in the sidebar showing how many spam messages she had...
I think that this kind of stuff really is not good for the performance and I would discourage people to do this...
It is by coincidence that I just left her site and saw you had made a training regarding Askimet...
Grtz,
Bert
