Important Update:

Wealthy Affiliate hosting includes spam comment protection at server level. If your website is hosted here then you don't need an anti-spam plugin.

If you're using a different hosting company then I recommend Antispam Bee to protect your website from spam comments.

Akismet is NOT free for commercial use

Because we are in the business of internet marketing we could be breaking their terms of service to use Akismet on our websites without paying a premium price. It all depends on their interpretation of 'personal sites' vs 'commercial sites'.

Antispam Bee is my choice alternative for blocking spam comments.

It blocks spam comments without the need for captchas. According to their FAQs it's free of charge and ad-free forever, even for commercial projects.

Go to Plugins==> Add New and type 'antispam bee' into the search box (without the quotes).
