Focusing on Quality over Quantity
When you are generating links back to your blog, you need to focus on quality. Quality links will have a positive impact on your organic rankings. The features of quality backlinks are:
- Content relevance
- Domain and Page Authority
- Placement
- Blog Diversity
1. Content Relevance
Google wants to ensure that the most relevant content is delivered to its users, so it views relevance as a key influencer of both link-equity and organic ranking.
Generating backlinks from niche-related sites will create a more awesome impact. For example, if you are a freelancer, backlinks from freelancing sites like Freelancer, Upwork, and Fiverr will have higher relevance and a more positive effect.
2. Domain & Page Authority
Authority is a metric of how a page or website ranks on search engine results pages based on a 1 – 100 scale. A single link from a highly-respected site is more precious and comes with more link juice or link-equity than hundreds of links from low authority blogs. So, when it comes to measuring authority, the two most favorite tools to achieve that are Ahrefs Domina Rating and Moz Link Explorer.
3. Placement
The particular place where links are found on the linking page is crucial. A link found in the page body will have much more juice than those appearing in the sidebar or footer.
4. Blog Diversity
Google rewards a link profile that seems to have been naturally built over time from a wide range of sites, for instance, directories, blogs, magazines, websites, press releases and forums.
Thank you so much for this post. I have a question: can backlinks alone make a site get great ranking on Google or any other search engine?
I noticed a company from which I ordered a site several years back makes extensive use of backlinks. There was very limited relevant content on the site. When I checked the ranking I noticed the site was way at the "bottom of the ladder."
Always informative posts from you. I enjoy reading them. I learn more each time. I notice you have several backlinks to the content here in WA sprinkled throughout each of your posts.
You practice what you teach my friend, and that is always a good sign of quality.
