The Misconceptions about Search Engine Authority and User Trust
There is a common perception by many marketers and business owners, that the authority of sites is determined by online users. This is untrue as it doesn’t have much to do with how Google rates the content of your site.
Trust is determined by how much reliance a user places on the content of a website. Such trust has no direct impact on your website’s ranking, although user's trust is still important to your site, no doubt!!
Authority, on the other hand, is solely determined by Google or other search engines. Essentially, it is how much weight a site gets from search engines that determine its authority.
How Do Users Evaluate Trust?
- Your Reputation: Note that it takes a while to earn a reputation. Users can easily trust information from business or site owners who have built and maintained a positive reputation
- Through Your Posts: Posting quality content on your site is a sure pointer that you are an authority in your niche
- Positive Testimonials: When users leave positive testimonials, it shows that your business gives customers satisfaction
- Reliability: Users should be able to rely on the content of your website for accurate information

Hey Israel,
Long time no see...lol
I always learn a lot from you. I haven't been in WA for a long time but, now I'm back to learning and building.
I really appreciate that you share your wealth of knowledge. It helps out a TON.
One question...about reputation?
When you say reputation takes a while to develop, how does that work? I guess I'm over thinking...
How do we develop a good reputation? Is it with high quality content? Higher domain authority?
Or is it us waiting on Google to trust our site? And if it's based off the site - when we start a new site, do we have to build reputation once again?
Great training by the way...

Authority is gained with knowledge and experience in the activity we intend to develop. Surely Google will also help us. Thank you very much Israel!
