Which should you choose?
Only you can decide whether you want to use Google+ or Pinterest or perhaps you want to develop both. However, on top of considering the advantages and disadvantages of both, here are 4 other things you may want to think about.
Things to consider
Demographics
What is your potential customer demographic? As already stated Google+ is currently male dominated and Pinterest female dominated. You need to consider whether in either case you see this as an advantage, disadvantage or actually an opportunitiy
Referral rates
The aim of any social network is to raise your brand awareness and be able to direct people towards your blog or website and encourage them to purchase your products or services. At the current time Pinterest is winning the battle for CTR
Time
Because Google+ is happy to accept duplicate content and therefore links to written content may take less time rather than trying to post interesting images to attract Pinterest users.
Search Results
Building your presence on Google+ may help you to stay ahead of the game in future developments in what is known as 'next generation search' where connections you have established on Google+ will have an impact on results that people will see when they are looking for any industry specific keywords.
Summary
I hope this brief overview has give you a clearer idea of whether Pinterest or Google+ is a more suitable vehicle for your social marketing activities.
Good luck.
But I am also convinced of the advantages of using Google+. I tried to create an account, but it doesn't allow me to use the name of my site. I read somewhere, that the companies first need to create a personal profile and then add the company's page(like in FB) to it. Any thoughts on this? :) Thanks again! Lili
