Next you will need to add your blog to the following;

1. Google Webmaster Tools
2. Bing Webmaster Tools

Yahoo Site Explorer is now part of Bing Webmaster Tools and no longer exists as a separate site.

With Google Webmaster Tools you can sign in with the same username and password you use for your.

GMail Account

Or if you do not have one you can setup a

New Account

With Bing if you haven't got a

Live Account

Just register yourself.

For each of these just follow the instructions but what I tend to do is download the document with all the numbers on, something like this,

efgh6749irdzx123pyt

Then save it as a Text Document using Notepad and name it the exact same code, nothing else and don't put any full stops in either otherwise it will not be recognised.

Then Upload the Text Document to your Public Folder on Your Server.
Do this for each Site.

After uploading just Click on Verify in each account.

Now as to how long it takes, well some say a few days others take much longer but if you haven't done it correctly all will tell you something is wrong.

Note: If you have done something wrong just go back into your Server and delete the file then start again.

Yes, because it is a lot easier to use once setup.

I just did this with a dozen sites with no problem at all. After you install, don't forget to activate Google XML Sitemaps. Thanks again BigMan Neil. John

Have done that myself as well, forgot to activate, because I had the Postman arrive at the door.....lol

Neil, Thanks! I have just been blogging and then sending to the social sites but I've wondered how I could do more. I know that the blogs are sent to ping-o-matic because WordPress indicates that (somewhere). John

This is excellent training Neil. I actually did the directory submissions when I started the site and used last pass to fill out the forms which save alot of time going to each directory,

That is okay using Last Pass, but Ididn't mention this because using the easier options can tempt you to post your site to loads of directories and on a new site this is not a good thing to do.
Google is paying more attention to anything that looks to be automated.

yes I mentioned that as a time saver, but hopefully people know slow and easy wins the race.
